Transformations Care

Our Alcohol Detox Program in California

Detox from Alcohol in Comfort

Transformations Care has a comfortable, medication-assisted alcohol detox on a quiet, private residential area in the L.A. suburbs. We keep our detox population small, only 6-10 beds or so. This is to make sure everyone gets the individual attention they need and you never feel like a number. Most people also appreciate the calm and privacy that brings.

Our full medical alcohol detox has 24-hour clinical supervision and we provide everything you need to detox from alcohol safely and comfortably.

Once your alcohol detox is done, we have some solid options for continuing your treatment with us. As nice as our alcohol detox is, we don’t think you want to become a regular there or at any alcohol detox. The point of alcohol treatment is not just to hit the reset button and let you rest and heal. It’s to get you over the stumbling block to sobriety that are keeping you stuck.

That’s the kind of evidence-based treatment we do at Transformations Care. We believe in real recovery. In our book, long-term sobriety and happiness is absolutely possible, but only if we’re willing to get honest with ourselves and others and do what it takes to repair ourselves and grow. We are dedicated to helping you achieve that critical growth. We hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to transform your life. Alcohol detox is only the beginning of this journey.

Why Do I Need Alcohol Detox?

A safe and comfortable alcohol detox is a must if you are serious about quitting drinking. There are a few reasons for this. One big one is that to halt a drinking problem successfully requires lifestyle change and an understanding of triggers and underlying issues, like trauma. Can you quit drinking without doing any work on yourself? Sure.

Alcohal From

But the data says your chances of staying sober aren’t great if you go that route. Simply removing the alcohol without understanding why we keep picking up the drink leaves us we no defense. If willpower alone was enough to conquer alcohol addiction (or any other addiction) then recovery fellowships, alcohol detox programs and alcohol rehab centers probably wouldn’t exist.

We wouldn’t need ‘em, would we? Everyone would just knuckle down and cut back their booze consumption slowly and gradually over time and then stop. Done. Of course, in this magical, perfect world where we have

Alcohol Detox in the Real World

It’s pretty obvious we don’t live in that world. So why do so many of us continue to act like drinking is under our control when all signs are telling us and everyone else that it’s not? Why do we tell ourselves we can “just cut back” on our own without an alcohol detox, alcohol treatment or even AA meetings? Even though we know we’ve tried this again and again and it never sticks? That’s a big question.

Alcohol

But if you’re reading this, then you have had a moment of awareness. Whether it’s for yourself or someone else, you know that alcohol detox is necessary. That’s great news! Because denial and fear are the two biggest obstacles to getting help for alcoholism. If we can punch through those and just get things moving in the right direction with a little willingness, then great things are possible.

Home Alcohol Detox is Dangerous and Rarely Works

Alcohol is one of only three categories of drugs which has a withdrawal process that is dangerous enough to kill. The three categories are: alcohol, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates. All three of these drugs can lead to lethal seizures in withdrawal if a person is not medically detoxed under supervision. We tell you this not to alarm you but to inform you.

Not everyone is aware of the dangers of alcohol withdrawal without being under supervision. The tricky thing about withdrawal induced seizures from alcoholism is that it’s difficult to predict who may have a seizure.

There are a number of factors that determine someone’s likelihood of having something as serious as a grand mal seizure from alcohol withdrawal.

Factors That Can Contribute to an Alcohol Withdrawal Seizure:

  • How much (volume of alcohol) a person drinks and how frequently.
  • The number of years a person has been drinking (continuously and cumulatively)
  • Past history of seizures or a family history of them.
  • A person’s general physical health.
  • The person’s age.
  • Any other medications the person may be taking.
  • Other health issues, especially neurological problems.

Even with all of that information in place you can never really predict for certain if someone is at risk of a seizure. So, the safest thing to do when it comes to alcohol detox is to never attempt to alcohol detox at home.

Alcohol detox and detoxing from benzodiazepine’s like xanax or klonopin or barbiturates is something that should always be done under medical supervision.

This is something that simply can’t be left to chance we must assume that everyone is at risk for a seizure. because seizures in alcohol withdrawal can be deadly there is no room for shortcuts or half measures here.

Put simply an alcohol detox performed in a professional medical environment like transformations care detox, it is the safest possible way to stop drinking alcohol

Health Insurance Covers Alcohol Detox

Health insurance will usually cover alcohol detox.  If you want to be sure, start with an insurance benefits check with your admissions coordinator. After that, a brief phone evaluation chat to find out what you’re using and how much will give us a clear picture how we can best be of service to you.

An insurance benefits check at Transformations Care is easy and usually takes less than an hour. Checking your insurance doesn’t commit you to treatment at Transformations Care.

What it will do is give you a clearer picture of your choices for alcohol treatment for yourself or your loved one. That can help you make the right decision for yourself.

All we need for insurance verification is:

  • A health/medical insurance card
  • full legal name, date of birth
  • A phone number to call you back at once we have some answers.

Medical detox from Alcohol or Benzos

There are three classes of drug with withdrawal side-effect that can be deadly. They are: alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax and Klonopin) and barbiturates, These other three categories are different.

Deadly grand mal seizures in alcohol withdrawal are well documented. The same thing can happen to people who quit using benzos without medical detox. It’s hard to predict. Some people are just more likely to have seizures than others. They usually don’t know it happens.

Even with all of that information, it’s impossible to predict who may have a seizure in withdrawal and how serious it may be. The point of all of this, is that it is a very real risk. Especially with alcohol. Benzodiazepines and some sedatives and tranquilizers and barbiturates. This is a risk you do not want to take.

NEVER try to Detox from Alcohol, Benzos or Barbiturates at Home

NEVER try to detox yourself from alcohol or sedatives like benzodiazepines or barbiturates. Don’t even think about it. It could cost you your life. We will always give you straight answers here, It is much too dangerous to play with detoxing yourself off of alcohol, benzos or barbiturates.

It requires careful medical supervision to be done safely and even then, you can never eliminate every possible risk. Please remember THIS paragraph and remember the name Transformations Care.
